Just three years after its creation, protech Habi has established itself as the largest used home buyer and seller in Latin America after becoming the second unicorn in Colombia and growing more than five times in 2022.

The company will allocate more than US$250MM to purchase homes in the region in the coming months.

Habi, the largest buyer and seller of used housing in Latin America, has a successful closing of the year after becoming the second unicorn in Colombia. In 2022, the company grew more than 5 times, and it consolidated its operations in all the main cities of Colombia and Mexico. Since its foundation, Habi has accompanied more than 26,800 families in their home buying and selling processes through its different subsidiaries, with a direct investment, during 2022, of US$70MM dollars in Colombia alone.

“What makes us most proud are definitely those close to 30,000 families that we have been able to help during the most important financial decision of their lives. We are focused on giving our clients fast, simple and safe solutions when buying and selling their home. In 2023 we will continue consolidating our product portfolio around this process, which includes the automation of the different stages, access to financing, among others”, commented Sebastian Noguera, co-founder and president of Habi.

To achieve these results, Habi has bet on innovation. One of its biggest initiatives during the year was the launch of its financial product Habicredit, where it partnered with different financial institutions to streamline the process of requesting, approving, and disbursing mortgage loans to make buying a home faster and easier.

Likewise, they continued promoting Habimetro, the first free and online tool based on data that estimates the commercial value of a home in Colombia. Today Habimetro accumulates more than one million inquiries and is available to anyone who wants to know the value of a home in the main cities of the country.

By 2023, Habi’s great strategic commitment will be to continue working hand in hand with all the players in the real estate industry (banks, agents, brokers, notaries, government) so that the company can strengthen its operation in Colombia and Mexico. In addition, it will maintain its strong base in data and technology that allow automation and simplification of processes at each stage of the home buying and selling process.

Among some of the automations that Habi’s team is working on is the automatic reading of Certificates of Tradition and Freedom, a tool that standardizes, classifies, and analizes the historical information of the properties to facilitate the purchase, sale, and remodeling cost calculations of real estate. Today, the tool is used internally at Habi to carry out its used home purchase and sale transactions, but in 2023 they will seek to market it with allies. These tools aim to further reduce waiting times and give families more security.

This focus on innovation will allow the company to continue leveraging itself as one of the leading technology companies in Colombia and Mexico, and the region, and with this it plans to double its size in 2023. Likewise, the company will allocate more than US$250MM in home purchases during the next few months.
